According to IDC’s Asia Pacific Quarter Mobile Phone Tracker Report, Xiaomi left Samsung behind in 2018 and sold a total of 14.23 million smartphones in the Indian market with 28.9 percent market share. At the same time, Samsung was second with 22.4 percent market share.
In 2017, Xiaomi’s market share was 20.9 percent, while Samsung’s 24.7 percent. In 2018, Vivo’s market share was 14.2 percent, OPPO 10.2 percent, and Transaction 6.4 percent. Apart from Samsung, there are four Chinese companies out of the Top 5 smartphone brands.
According to IDC India’s Associate Research Manager (Client Devices), Josh Joshi said in a statement: “One of the biggest highlights of 2018 was the online focus brand, due to which online share of sales in the year 2018 was the highest at 38.4 percent.”
