World Food Day is celebrated every year on October 16. The purpose of the day is to draw attention to the millions of people who cannot afford a balanced diet and the necessity of regular access to nourishing food.

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is in charge of World Food Day (FAO). This year, the world is dealing with a multitude of difficulties, including the COVID-19 pandemic, wars, climate change, rising prices, and international tensions. Global food security is impacted by all of this.

HISTORY:

Dr Pal Romany, former agriculture and food minister for Hungary, proposed the creation of World Food Day in November 1979. More than 150 nations around the world observe it.

This Day is observed annually on October 16 to commemorate the anniversary of the foundation of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.
