Team India’s campaign was a big setback in the World Cup. Opener Shikhar Dhawan has been out of the World Cup 2019. Instead of the Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant has been given a place in the team. Rishabh is already present in England. Keep in mind that Shikhar Dhawan was hurt in the match with Australia, after which he was given two weeks of rest. Despite this, it did not fit completely. After all, he decided to include Rishabh Pant in his team management.

33-year-old Dhawan suffered a thumb injury in the ODI against Australia on June 9. Initially, he was out for three matches – Pakistan (June 16), Afghanistan (June 22) and West Indies (June 27). But now he is out for the whole tournament.

Despite the pain in the match against Australia, Dhawan has no hope of returning to the match against England on June 30. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also confirmed it. The board has tweeted that Dhawan’s thumbs will remain till the middle of July and thus he will not be able to take part in the World Cup. The Board has said that it has been discovered only after talking to several experts. Team India manager Sunil Subrahmanyanam also informed the reporters about this.

21-year-old Pant was considered to be the first World Cup team contender but on the basis of experience, Dinesh Karthik was selected as the second wicketkeeper. Pant is known for his aggressive style. This left-handed batsman was in excellent form during the Indian Premier League. He had previously performed brilliantly in the Test series of England and Australia. Legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar was also keen to include him in the World Cup team.
