On Monday, Anushka Sharma, an actor, and producer, said that she and her cricketer husband Virat Kohli were taken aback when photos of their daughter Vamika became viral on social media.
Vamika was seen in the stands with Anushka during the third and final ODI between India and South Africa, and the photos went popular on social media. When Virat Kohli announced his half-century, he made a cradle motion towards Vamika and celebrated.
“Hi guys! We realise that our daughters images were captured at the stadium yesterday and widely shared thereafter. We want to inform everyone that we were caught off guard and didn’t know that the camera was on us. Our stance and request on the matter stays the same. We would really appreciate if Vamika’s images are not clicked/published for reasons we have explained earlier. Thank you,” Kohli and Anushka made the announcement in a statement on their Instagram story.
This was the first time Vamika’s photos had been seen publicly, and the images quickly went viral on social media.
Kohli and Anushka have previously begged the media not to photograph Vamika to protect the couple’s privacy. Many followers on social media chastised the broadcaster for airing Vamika on live television for this reason.
In January 2021, the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter.
Anushka recently wrote a statement to the media crews thanking them for not photographing their daughter Vamika while accompanying Virat on his cricket match trips.
