UK government’s new plan against fake news on social media.
London, The UK government is planning to launch a new Quick Response Unit to keep an eye on fake reports and to spread wrong information online. This team will monitor social media to identify suspicious information and start debate with facts. This plan has been disclosed in the article written in a magazine by Alex Aiken, Executive Director of the British Government’s communications services.
Aiken said that he wants to develop quick processing capacity on social media to immediately refute wrong information and start public debate based on facts. Earlier, UK parliamentary committees had instructed large companies of social media to investigate whether Russia intervened in the referendum to be separated from the European Union in June 2016. Following these instructions the scheme has been disclosed.
