The Kashmir Files is on its way to the UAE after setting fire at the Indian box office. Vivek Agnihotri announced a few days earlier that the film had been prohibited in the nation, but the cause for the prohibition remained unclear. On Wednesday, the filmmaker turned to Twitter to announce that the film’s prohibition had been removed and that The Kashmir Files will be released in the UAE on April 7.

“BIG VICTORY: FINALLY, got the censor clearance from UAE. Rated 15+ passed without any cuts. Releasing on 7th April (Thursday). Now, Singapore. (Thanks Sanu for this portrait),” he wrote on Twitter.

Anupam Kher was likewise overjoyed at the news. Vivek discussed The Kashmir Files being banned in a few countries earlier this month in an interview. “The film is prohibited in the United Arab Emirates.” They told us we couldn’t release the film. “The same is the case in Singapore and Qatar,” he added.

Meanwhile, the British Parliament has asked Vivek and his wife Pallavi Joshi (who also appears in the film) to speak about the predicament of Kashmiri Pandits. The filmmaker confirmed the news to Bollywood Hungama. “That’s right, my wife Pallavi and I have been invited to the British parliament. We will be heading there next month. The Kashmir Files was made with the express purpose of taking the message of the Kashmir Pandits’ genocide to every corner of the world. I am glad we are getting there,” he said.

Several Indian states have declared the film tax-free, including Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Tripura, Goa, and Uttarakhand. Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumaar, and Pallavi Joshi play significant roles in The Kashmir Files. Vivek Agnihotri directs the film.

Since its premiere, The Kashmir Files has amassed a sizable box office collection. On Wednesday, trade expert Taran Adarsh reported on Twitter that The Kashmir Files is approaching the Rs 250 crore threshold. “#TheKashmirFiles [Week 3] Fri 4.50 cr, Sat 7.60 cr, Sun 8.75 cr, Mon 3.10 cr, Tue 2.75 cr. Total: ₹ 234.03 cr. #India biz. ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER.” The film will be entering week 4 this weekend.
