Yugnayak Vivekananda, a biography of Swami Vivekananda
Swami Vivekananda was roaming in the jungles of Madhya Pradesh and on the banks of the Narmada-Kshipra River for a year before his speeches at the World Dharma Sabha were discussed all over the world. During the stay, Swami Vivekananda used to fill his stomach with alms, but after residing in Madhya Pradesh among scheduled caste families, he decided that he would not do alms. The reason for this was the prevailing poverty among these families.
This incident is mentioned in Yugnayak Vivekananda, a biography of Swami Vivekananda published by Ramakrishna Math. According to the book, he had to pass several tough exams in Central India. He moved among people who were extremely rude and hospitable. When asked, a handful would not even give alms and scolded. In those days, he lived in a family of scheduled caste for several days. He was surprised to see the superiority of his heart. After some other such incidents, he wrote a letter to one of his Gurubhai and said that I will not do alms. What do the poor benefit from feeding me? Instead of getting a handful of rice, they can feed their sons and daughters.
When faced with a tiger
According to the book Yugnayak Vivekananda, he continued to walk all day without eating anything. Slept under a tree with a weary body in the evening. After a while, he saw a tiger coming towards him. At that time Swami Vivekananda thought that we are both hungry. I do not see the possibility of anyone’s welfare in this body, so if I eat this animal’s hunger, then what is bad? They slept without moving. The tiger suddenly turned towards them and went in another direction.
Help was sought for Chicago trip in Khandwa
In the year 1893, he reached Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh. While walking here, he came in front of the house of a lawyer named Haridas Chattopadhyay. At first the lawyer Haridas thought that he was like other sages, but after some talk he came to understand that he is an extraordinary saint. He invited Swami Vivekananda to his house. Swami Vivekananda stayed at his house in Khandwa for about three weeks. During this, he also lectured among the Bengal society. During this stay, he told Haridas Chattopadhyay that if someone pays for my traffic for Chicago, everything will be fine. I’m ready to go.
Vivekananda went to many cities of MP
According to Swami Swatmanand Puri, who is associated with the Ramakrishna Mission, working on the journey of Swami Vivekananda, information about Vivekananda’s visit to many cities of Madhya Pradesh is found in different ways, but there is no corroborative evidence of this.
