Along with the announcement, Marvel Studios posted a teaser montage featuring several of Lee’s cameos from the movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe on its official Twitter account. Lee made a cameo in each MCU movie between 2008’s Iron Man and 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, totaling 22 appearances.

The studio tweeted, “100 years of dreaming. 100 years of creating. 100 years of Stan Lee. Stan Lee, an original documentary, is streaming 2023 on Disney+.”

As the co-creator of enduring superheroes like Spider-Man and The Hulk, Lee revolutionized modern culture. He passed away in 2018 at the age of 95.

The creator of the comic books began their career in 1939 at Timely Comics, Marvel’s forerunner. He started working at Marvel Comics in the 1960s as an author and editor-in-chief before being named publisher in 1972.

Later, Lee emerged as the brand’s spokesperson and a role model for comic book fans all around the world.

Stan Lee Universe, a partnership between Genius Brands International and POW! Entertainment and Marvel Studios struck a 20-year agreement earlier this year to license Lee’s name and likeness.

As part of the agreement, the studio will be permitted to utilize Lee’s name and likeness in upcoming motion pictures and television shows as well as Disney theme parks, different “experiences,” and merchandise.
