Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Trailer Reveals Army of Spider-People

Entertainment

Sony released a new Across the Spider-Verse teaser on Tuesday, giving us a new look at Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, and Peter B. Parker’s upcoming adventure even though Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 isn’t due out until next year. As the Marvel heroes run into Spider-Man 2099’s Spider-Society, the CGI animated film has even more visually amazing effects than the original.

Following a scene in which Miles is warming up to his mother, we see Spidey 2099 (Oscar Isaac) and Spider-Woman (Issa Raye), also known as Jessica Drew, who is expecting a child just like she did in the 2015 comic book adaptation of the character. At about 1:25, Spider-Man from the PlayStation games is also discernible.

In a YouTube Premium-only “afterparty” on Tuesday, actor Hailee Steinfeld (who plays Gwen) joined writer-producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller to share more movie details. Since Gwen has been invited into the Spider-Society but Miles has not, there will likely be some friction between the two of them.

Additionally, they unveiled pictures of Spider-Man India, who resides in the Mumbai-Manhattan hybrid known as Mumbattan, Spider-Punk by Daniel Kaluuya, who is closer to Gwen than Miles would like, and Mayday Parker, the young, spider-powered child of Peter B. Parker and Mary Jane Watson. The movie’s theme song will be composed by the musician Metro Boomin. In theatres on June 2, 2023, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be followed by Beyond the Spider-Verse on March 29, 2024.

The 2018 release of the Oscar-winning Into the Spider-Verse followed Miles as he took over as Spider-Man after Peter Parker’s demise in their dimension. In Miles’ first adventure, he encountered a number of Spider-People from other dimensions. The first trailer for its sequel, which has our hero confronting Spidey 2099 in the vibrant future city of Nueva York, appears to be continuing this trend. While Spidey 2099 has been around since 1992, Miles made his comic book debut in 2011. Along with Lord and Miller, veteran Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal will take on that position.
