Shabaash Mithu trailer: Taapsee Pannu plays the former captain of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team, Mithali Raj

Entertainment Movie Trailers

Shabaash Mithu, starring Taapsee Pannu, has just released its teaser. The film is based on the life of former Indian Women’s Cricket Team captain Mithali Raj, an exceptional cricketer. Mithali Raj has played international cricket for 23 years and has amassed over 10,000 runs in one-day internationals, breaking several records. The film chronicles her struggle to become a cricketer in the face of adversity.

Taapsee Pannu plays Mithu, a girl who aspires to be a cricketer, in the teaser. Except for her coach, played by Vijay Raaz, she is criticised by everyone for her dream. He recognises her talent and invites her to join the girls’ cricket squad. Mithali, on the other hand, has a difficult time since she is bullied and mocked. She learns to stand strong in the face of ridicule and to hold her own in society. Even though it’s a little clichéd, the film promises to be an inspirational biography.

The women’s cricket team’s battle to find their own identity is also depicted. ‘Nazariya badlo, khel badalgaya (the game will change when you alter your perspective),’ says the clip, which was unveiled by former cricketer Sourav Ganguly. Shabaash Mithu was shot in both domestic and foreign settings. Ajit Andhare as the creative producer of Shabaash Mithu, which is produced by Viacom18 Studios and directed by Srijit Mukherji and written by Priya Aven.

Taapsee had tweeted a selfie of herself following the session earlier this year. “I was 8 when someone made me dream that one day, cricket won’t be just a gentleman’s game. Even we will have our team, an identity. ‘Women in Blue’. We are coming soon. #ShabaashMithu It’s a film wrap! Get ready to cheer for the World Cup 2022! #WomenInBlue,” she said.
