Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries Limited, will first try his e-commerce model in Gujarat. Ambani is going to step in an e-commerce sector effectively. Reliance’s new venture can challenge Amazon and Flipkart in the same way as Jio raised the difficulties for the rivals as soon as they entered the telecom sector.
Describing his plans in the Vibrant Gujarat Summit, Ambani revealed that he will launch e-commerce platform first in Gujarat. He said that with the new e-commerce project of Jio and Reliance Retail, 12 lakh shopkeepers will benefit in Gujarat.
Ambani said that Jio Network is ready for 5G services. So now his telecom unit and retail business unit will create a new platform that will connect small retailers, shopkeepers and customers. However, he did not tell when Jio started services in 5G.
Ambani’s retail plan, online or offline, will be crucial for India’s strategy in 2019. It will be further strengthened by the strict e-commerce rules being applied to foreign companies from February 2019.
