“Kindness is a gift everyone can afford” – unknown

Kindness – a word we’ve been known to since childhood. We know what kindness is, but do we know the value of a small act of kindness? A kind word can make someone’s day, it instantly brings a bright smile on that person’s face and eventually on yours. We all know how important a kind deed is, but do we practice it? That’s for you to answer. Kindness brings a change not only in you but also in the world. It can never ever go in vain.

Have you seen the smile on someone’s face when you call them handsome/beautiful? Have you seen the smile on your mom’s face when you appreciate her? Have you seen the beautiful grin on the pregnant woman’s face when you helped her with groceries? A bunch of words by you or a little help made their day. Trust me, if you compliment or appreciate or help someone it makes them the happiest. I mean, what’s better than experiencing a kind deed? So, I’m going to tell you how you can practice kindness every day, to not only make the world a better place but also to make you a better human being.

• Compliment people often

Tell someone they’re beautiful. If they’re doing something, tell them they’re great at it. It not only boosts their confidence but also makes them happy. Compliment as many people as possible. This is the easiest way to practice kindness.

• Appreciate people

Everyone loves to be appreciated for what they are doing. May it be an employee, a friend, or even your own parents. Let them know how important they are to you, how much you love them and value them. Let them know that you appreciate everything they’re doing for you.

• Donation

Carry some loose change and put it in some donation jar. Give it to beggars on the streets or in the local trains. Donate a small amount in charity, not only for humans but also for animals. Yes, you need to be kind to animals too.

• Help people

Help as many people as you can. The help can be anything at all. If your friend is in financial need, help him out by lending him some money. Open the door for someone. Let someone go ahead of you in a queue. Help someone with groceries. But someone snacks or something. Be there for people. Try and help more often.

Even the smallest acts of kindness can lighten up someone’s day. Whether it’s a small deed, or something bigger, just do something every day for someone different. You never know what a person is going through, your small act of kindness can bring a huge change in his/her life. Always remember when you do good for someone, someone else will do good for you!
