
Rahul Gandhi becomes Congress president on 16 Dec.
Prior to the second phase of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly elections, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi has been elected the national president of the Congress. On December 11, the party announced their election. Significantly, Rahul’s election has become indisputable.
In view of the ongoing assembly elections in Gujarat, Rahul Gandhi will take charge of the party on December 16. It is notable that till now his mother Sonia Gandhi is the national president of the party. For the past several years, there has been a demand for making him president from within the party. But every time for some reason, their coronation was going on.
Significantly, Rahul Gandhi himself has been commanded to campaign for the assembly elections in Gujarat itself. They are touring and rallying throughout the state. He has also got the support of Hardik Patel and Alpesh Thakor, leader of the Patidar movement.
Rahul Gandhi was made vice-president of the Congress in January 2013. Since then, he was working as the second-largest leader in the party. It is believed that Sonia Gandhi will continue to represent the Congress Parliamentary Party.
Party spokesman Mallapalli Ramachandran announced to become Rahul’s president. After which the party’s big leaders started congratulating Rahul. The party has become a celebration of celebration. Ghulam Nabi Azad said that Rahul Gandhi is a tough leader and due to him the Prime Minister and all his ministers are camping in Gujarat.
