
President of the Maldives refused to meet European diplomats.
Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen refused to meet senior European diplomats on Thursday. In view of the order of the judiciary to release political prisoners, these diplomats have visited the country after the unrest. The European Union, Germany and Britain have come to the capital city.
German envoy Jr. Rohde in Sri Lanka said that the three had requested the meeting to discuss the action of Yameen on the dissidents. Rohde said on Twitter, “It is sad that the Maldives government refused to negotiate with my colleagues of the UK and the European Union. Unfortunately, our request has been rejected. ‘
