Amidst the cases of Coronavirus in Kerala, now another virus has knocked. The name of this virus is being told as Norovirus. According to the Kerala government, the infection of this virus can be cured soon with treatment.
On Friday, a day after norovirus cases were confirmed in the Wayanad district, the Kerala government said people need to be vigilant against the contagious virus. It is said that the person suffering from its infection complains of vomiting and diarrhea.
Health Minister Veena George said that the disease can be cured quickly with proper prevention and treatment. He said that there is no need to be afraid of this, but everyone should know about this disease and the measures to prevent it.
He explained that noroviruses are a group of viruses, which cause gastrointestinal illness (abdominal disease).
Although norovirus does not significantly affect healthy people, it can be severe in the case of young children, the elderly, and people with other diseases.
Two weeks ago, this rare norovirus infection was reported in around 13 veterinary college students at Pookode near Vithiri in Wayanad district. Presently the situation is under control, and no further spread has been reported.
