According to Mumbai Police, they have filed an FIR on this Thursday regarding a scam of TRPs. They said that in this scam three channels are the part of the scam including Republic TV.

The police commissioner of Mumbai Param Bir Singh said that Republic TV, Fakht Marathi, and Box Cinema are those channels that are indulged in this scam. And after this, they have also arrested four persons, the owner of Fakht Marathi and the owner of Box Cinema, and two people that used to work for a market research agency are also arrested.
And for Republic TV he said that summons are going to be issued to some members of Republic TV to know if these people knew about this TRP scam.

But Arnab Goswami of Republic TV said and replied to Singh that why have not they taken any action against India Today because according to Republic TV in the FIR, India Today’s name is mentioned a lot of times and there is no mentioning of Republic TV. Arnab said that this all is happening because he questioned Singh in the SSR case. To this Singh said to Republic TV that FIR was just the beginning of the investigation and Republic TV’s name has been taken by suspects while they were interrogated.

“We found that some channels were paying former employees off agency Hansa Research Group, which is contracted by BARC to carry out the research, to manipulate TRPs in their favor. This is mainly in the Mumbai region. “They, in turn, were paying certain households selected for putting up BAR-o-meters to keep certain channels like Republic switched on to show higher TRPs,” Singh said. Also, he added that he has recorded people’s wordings that they are paid Rs 500 to 600 per day to keep a single channel on throughout the day and even people who do not understand English are paid to keep on those channels.

This FIR was filled at Kandivali police station and this all started when according to Singh, Hansa and BARC started to notice various changes in the TRPs that were not usual. The name of four people that are arrested is Vishal Bhandari, 21, and Bompally Rao Mistry, 44, these are the workers that used to work in Hansa and the owners that were arrested of Fakt Marathi was Shirish Pattanshetty, 44, and of Box Cinemas was Narayan Sharma, 47. Singh further added that these workers have been arrested because they both have received a huge amount of Rs 20 lakh and Rs 8.5 lakh and it is ben said that they were paid to keep the channels on and these both have been paid by 3 channels.

Republic TV rubbished Singh’s cases. Supervisor in-boss Goswami stated: “Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh has made bogus claims against Republic TV since we have addressed him in the Sushant Singh Rajput case examination. Republic TV will record a criminal slander body of evidence against… Singh. There is anything but a solitary BARC report that refers to Republic TV.”

On Republic TV’s case that India Today, and not Republic, was named in the FIR, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Milind Bharambe stated: “In the FIR, the name of India Today is referenced; nonetheless, it isn’t validated by any of the denounced or witnesses. Despite what might be expected, the charges and witnesses are explicitly referencing the names of Republic TV, Fakt Marathi, and Box Cinema. Exhaustive examinations are going on.”

No official remark from India Today was accessible until press time.

At the question and answer session, Singh said “the cash earned through commercials by these channels through phony TRPs will be considered as the returns of wrongdoing. When we discover the records where the cash was moved, we will get them solidified”.

By controlling TRPs, the blamed had made misfortunes promoters and different news channels, Singh said. As per the official, “the TV publicizing industry is worth around Rs 32,000 crore”.

Republic has blamed the Mumbai Police and its boss by and by for purportedly not completing a reasonable examination in the Sushant Singh Rajput case. After the Supreme Court permitted the CBI to assume control over the examination, Goswami had requested Singh’s abdication.

After two sadhus and their driver were lynched in Palghar, Republic had claimed – wrongly, as it turned out – a collective edge in the assault, and blamed the legislature for neglecting to secure the Hindu blessed men.

Mumbai Police had enrolled an FIR against Goswami after accepting grievances by Congress laborers that he hosted offered frightful comments against get-together president Sonia Gandhi about the Palghar case.

In an announcement, BARC India said it “keeps on following its set up cautiousness and disciplinary rules”. It said “BARC remains undauntedly consistent with its motivation to precisely and reliably report ‘What India Watches'”, and “acknowledges the endeavors of the Mumbai Police and will offer the help asked of it”.
