KGF: Chapter 2, a Kannada film featuring Yash in the lead role, has dominated the Indian box office. The sequel enjoyed the benefits of the massive demand produced by the original film’s release in 2018, launching to a resounding reception in theatres all around the world.
KGF: Chapter 2 is claimed to have been shown on over 10,000 screens throughout the world. According to sources, roughly 6500 screens are showing several versions of the film across India. And the Hindi version is currently showing on over 4000 screens. These are previously unheard-of screen counts for a Kannada film. KGF 2 has set a new standard for the Kannada film industry, while also contributing to the increased demand for commercial films from the south in Hindi-speaking regions.
KGF 2 has the same number of international screens as RRR, which became filmmaker SS Rajamouli’s second film to gross Rs 1000 crore at the box office.
In the Hindi belt, KGF 2 set a new record for advance bookings, surpassing RRRs. According to industry insiders, the Hindi version would gross upwards of Rs 30 crore on its first day, setting a new record for a dubbed Kannada film. However, if the word on the street is to be believed, it was a pretty cautious prediction.
The Hindi version of the film is claimed to have made over Rs 60 crore on its first day, surpassing Baahubali: The Conclusion’s (Hindi).
KGF 2 was also a huge hit in the southern Indian states. While the film was a box office success in Karnataka, it also had a strong start in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Telugu states. The film is projected to smash the previous record for Kerala’s greatest opening weekend. Tamil Nadu is also seeing an increase in demand for the film.
Aside from the hoopla, KGF 2 is receiving rave reviews from the public, all of which will lead to a record-breaking opening weekend.
