K.G.F: Chapter 2: The Highest-Selling, Most-Watched Movie in 2022, According to BookMyShow
K.G.F: Chapter 2, Prashanth Neel’s follow-up to the historical thriller, was one of the most popular and successful films of 2022. According to BookMyShow’s “Best of 2022” report, the movie managed to sell 2.14 million tickets on its opening day, April 14, with additional receipts coming in the weekends that followed. With a staggering 17.7 million tickets sold, the Kannada-language picture surpassed S.S. Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion to become the most popular movie on the site in 2022, selling 34% of all tickets during the weekends.
K.G.F: Chapter 2 topped BookMyShow’s statistics for the most advanced reservations, followed by titles like RRR, Ponniyin Selvan: I, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and — strangely enough — Idris Elba’s Beast, which is not the Tamil-language movie of the same name starring Vijay.
Additionally, a 116 percent rise in viewers preferring an “immersive cinematic experience” to standard displays is noted in the BookMyShow statistics. This obviously refers to the formats of 3D, IMAX 2D, IMAX 3D, and 4DX, which were also prominently pushed during the re-release of Avatar in September. Hollywood films dominate the IMAX and 4DX markets, with only a tiny number of Indian films making up the total.
According to data gathered from January 1 to December 5, 2022, saw 1.11 lakh hours of viewing on the company’s video-on-demand platform, BookMyShow Stream. Additionally, 200 films were introduced to the streaming service during the year, and 93% of the Indian audience ate them up.

However, the remaining 7% decided to purchase those movies to watch at their leisure. Although no precise numbers are provided, the business states that the “most viewed” movies on BMS Stream were Spider-Man: No Way Home, The Spacewalker, and Assassins, a documentary about Kim Jong-assassination names that will be published in 2020.
There is also an extended version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe entry on the list that is available for streaming or buying and contains some material that was excised from the theatrical version. The year 2022 also saw the arrival of some Oscar-nominated films on BookMyShow Stream, with the highlights including Will Smith’s King Richard, Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, Kristen Stewart’s Spencer, and Parallel Mothers with Penélope Cruz.
After suffering through the COVID-19 lockdowns in 2020 and 2021, the BookMyShow report also notes that 8 million spectators turned out for on-ground live entertainment across 19,000+ events. This is a promising development.
