IPL 2022: Ravindra Jadeja will lead the Chennai Super Kings in the next IPL 2022, after MS Dhoni, who has captained the franchise since the first season of the event in 2008 – except the two years when the team was banned – declared his desire to stand aside. The franchise stated in a statement that “Dhoni will continue to represent Chennai Super Kings this season and beyond.”

Dhoni will continue to represent the Chennai Super Kings this season and beyond, according to a statement released by the CSK. “MS Dhoni has opted to pass up the leadership of the Chennai Super Kings to Ravindra Jadeja.” Jadeja, who has been with the Chennai Super Kings since 2012, will be only the third player to head the team. Dhoni will continue to play for the Chennai Super Kings this season and beyond, according to a CSK release.

Jadeja, who has been with the franchise since 2012, will become the Super Kings’ third captain, following Dhoni and Suresh Raina.

In an interview with the Super Kings’ social media team, Jadeja stated, “I’m feeling fine. At the same time, I need to fill enormous shoes like Mahi Bhai; [he] has already established a large legacy, and I need to continue [that] forward. I don’t have to be concerned since he is here, and if I have a question, I’ll absolutely go to him. He’ll be my go-to guy. He was, and he still is, so I’m not too worried.”

Dhoni, who has led the squad to four victories, may be playing his final IPL this season. Dhoni, 40, has already announced his retirement from international cricket.

On Saturday, the reigning champions CSK will face last season’s runners-up Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Jadeja last captained a cricket team on October 28, 2007, when he led Saurashtra Under-19 against Mumbai Under-19 in the Vinoo Mankad tournament at Rajkot’s Western Railway Ground.

However, Jadeja is currently regarded as one of the best all-rounders in the game. There are few finer fielders in international cricket than him, but his hunger to improve has become his greatest attribute. Jadeja recently moved to the top of the ICC Test rankings for allrounders after a match-winning effort against Sri Lanka in the Mohali Test, when he hit 175 and then returned a nine-wicket match haul. Jadeja is also ranked in the top 10 ODI allrounders and is an important component of the T20I squad.
