In the Indian Premier League (IPL), today two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will face against Sunrisers Hyderabad, who won the 2016 title. Both the team has started the tournament by facing a loss. Sunrisers Hyderabad, under the captaincy of David Warner, suffered a close 10-run defeat at the hands of Virat Kohli to Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first match of the IPL.
Performance of both teams in previous IPL match of the season
Kolkata Knight Riders had to face a defeat against defending champions Mumbai Indians. In the first match, many star players failed to perform well, so KKR would expect their foreign players to give their best in this IPL match. Pat Cummins, the most expensive fast bowler in the tournament, failed to shine in the previous IPL match as he scored 49 runs in his three overs against Mumbai, while batting players like Eoin Morgan and Andre Russell returned to the pavilion too early. The team will try to achieve the goal of their first win in this league against Hyderabad.
KKR played their first IPL match of the season against Mumbai and had to face defeat in that match. Mumbai had defeated KKR by 49 runs. Since 2013, the team faced a loss in their first match of a season for the first time. Rohit Sharma batted hard in this match.
In this match, KKR’s star bowler Pat Cummins didn’t perform so well as he had scored 49 runs in three overs. Prasidh Krishna should replace Sandeep Warrier in the playing XI as his performance wasn’t great enough. Karthik should look to use Pat Cummins more during the powerplay.
Now talking about Sunrisers Hyderabad, the team lost in their first match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. SRH had to face 10 runs defeat by RCB in their first match. Both teams will be focusing on their first win of the season in this 8th match. The expectation for much change in the playing of the DK Karthik-led KKR team is least. On the other hand, there is a possibility of a change in the Sunrisers Hyderabad team.
The prediction of rain is zero per cent. The temperature will set to be around 35 to 32 degrees Celsius during the match. During the evening, the humidity levels will rise and wind may start blow.
The wicket in Abu Dhabi is still helping the seamers more than the spinners. Despite the recent losses while chasing, captains who win the toss should look to bowl first as the pacers and the spinners may get a good amount of support. The battle between both these sides’ pace attack will be one to watch.
