The Indian smartphone market has proved quite lucky for the tech brand OnePlus. It has a large userbase in India, from the time the brand is ready to hit the premium segment. The company has been launching devices apart from smartphones in different segments and many products have been launched in India for the first time. Now OnePlus 8 has become the top premium phone in India and it has also made OnePlus to the top.
This is not the first time that the company has reached the top in the premium segment, but this time all credit goes to OnePlus 8. In the year 2019, OnePlus became India’s top-selling premium smartphone brand. Last year, the company sold over 2 million units in India and it is also the owner of the first premium smartphone brand to do so. However, last year the company launched four-hit devices OnePlus 7, 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T, 7T Pro.
Left all brands behind
According to Counterpoint, the Indian market share of OnePlus was 29.3 percent in the second quarter of 2020, which is more than any other premium smartphone brand. Despite the Coronavirus lockdown, the OnePlus 8 series hit India this year, and OnePlus benefited from it. OnePlus became the top 8 smartphones among all premium devices, capturing 19 percent market share. At the same time, its pro variant OnePlus 8 Pro was also included in the top-3 devices in the ultra-premium segment.
Low priced phone
The market strategy of OnePlus makes it better than devices like Apple or Samsung and the company has moved up to the premium segment, starting with affordable prices. The standard OnePlus 8 was priced lower in India than the rest of the world, making it a part of the competition. The company recently brought out OnePlus Nord, which has been launched in the midrange segment with strong features.
