Indian fast runner Hima Das made history on Thursday. She won gold medal in the 400 meters final of the IAAF World U-20 Athletics Championship. She is the first Indian athlete to win gold medal in the track event.

Das, 18, took 51.46 seconds to get top position. Das took the lead in the semi-final on Wednesday, 52.10 seconds. In the first round, she also took the record time of 52.25 seconds.

Das, a resident of Assam, was at the sixth place in the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in April, taking the time of 51.32 seconds to record the Indian Under-20. Since then, she has been constantly improving his time. She had recently secured the Gold Medal at the Interstate Championships. In this event he took the time of 51.13 seconds.

Hima Das now joins Elite Club of Star Javelin Throor (Bhalafenk) Neeraj Chopra. Chopra won the gold medal with the world record in the previous edition of 2016. Das is the first Indian athlete to win a medal in the track event
