Sunny Kaushal released the teaser for his forthcoming flick Hurdang on Wednesday. Hurdang will be released on April 8th.
Hurdang appears to be a love tale starring Sunny’s Daddu Thakur and Nushrratt Bharuccha’s character Jhulan as the trailer begins. As the movie proceeds, we realise that the film is far more than what the trailer’s opening few minutes implied. Daddu, a determined IAS applicant, learns of caste-based reservations in educational institutions, which irritates him. Sunny afterwards joins Vijay Varma’s Loha Singh and accepts the commission. Will he be able to succeed? That is yet to be determined.
As soon as the trailer was published, people began praising Sunny and the film. Vicky Kaushal also wished his younger brother well. Vicky said on his social media account after sharing the teaser, “HURDANG’ machaane aa rahe hain! So proud of you @sunsunnykhez”.
Soon after, Vicky’s father, Sham Kaushal, uploaded the teaser on his Instagram account with the caption, “Simply brilliant trailer. May God bless the film with all the success. Proud of you Puttar @sunsunnykhez”.
Shashank Khaitan said in the comments, “Looking good Brother… All the best.” “This movie is going to show the reality of the Indian education system,” a fan commented. “Thanks for portraying the feelings of every student sunny kaushal can’t wait for the picture and ofc change should come in our laws I think at least by watching this film change will come!”, said another.
For the uninitiated, in 1990, India was shaken by protests against the Mandal Commission’s recommendation of a 27% quota for Other Backward Classes in government employment and public universities (OBCs). Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, the writer-director of Hurdang, has transformed the narrative into a romantic drama that depicts what happened over those few months.
