Human Behavior: Know why people start shouting while arguing

Human Behavior: There is a lot of noise in the world. Noise pollution is already becoming a big problem, but the tendency of shouting in humans is increasing. Usually, people shout in anger or start yelling when they lose their temper in a heated argument. But no matter what kind of argument, shouting never helps anyone. One cannot convince the opponents by shouting. In such a situation, the question arises of why does a person cry. New research has found the answer to this question. And that is the lack of confidence.

Lack of confidence
There have been many types of research in the world on human behavior. These have also included the study of yelling behavior. Cornell University associate professor and social psychologist Vanessa Bones, said in an article published in the Wall Street Journal that she studied 15 people’s behavior and found that while humans tend to be overconfident in their beliefs, yelling is associated with a lack of confidence.

Just about overconfidence
For a very long time, it seemed that researchers were constantly looking for ways in which people were overconfident. A 2002 survey of three Stanford researchers found that participants described themselves as less prone to bias than others. Many participants did not want to change their views even after knowing how their opinions could be biased.

Using similar methods, the researchers found that the average person considers himself better than others in many respects, such as morality, artistry, sports, etc., which is not statistically possible. In contrast to these results, recent research has drawn attention to a different result.

Survey on social issues
In a 2017 study in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, participants were asked to answer questions such as who has more friends, participates more in social groups, and has more extensive social networks. The participants in this study showed overconfidence in many non-social matters.

Low confidence in social matters
The results of this study found that when it comes to our beliefs about our social skills, participants had lower confidence in this regard. They believed that they had fewer friends than others, that their circle of friends was small, their social network was narrow.

Affects confidence
Many other studies published in the last five years have also found that people’s confidence in social matters is low. Believing oneself to be more moral and less biased than others makes people overconfident in their beliefs. Similarly, not paying attention or listening to others makes them lack confidence in their abilities. Shouting is like an attempt to make up for this shortcoming.

We scream because we think people won’t listen to us the other way. This influencing method gives the exact opposite result. People prefer to take gentle, polite suggestions rather than prescriptive instructions. The reality is that our words will impact when we are polite while talking, discussing, and giving advice.
