Guru Tegh Bahadur – Know all about his martyrdom day!

Sikhism is one of the religions in India. And like all the other religions they also worship their Gurus. In Sikhism, there are in total 10 Gurus. And Guru Tegh Bahadur is one of them. All the Gurus of Sikhism religion worked for the betterment of all. But two of them were brutally tortured. And these Gurus were Guru Arjan Dev and Guru Tegh Bahadur.

Today is the martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur. He was the ninth Guru of Sikhism. And every year on 24 November, Sikhs celebrate Shaheedi Divas to remember him. And this day is known as Guru Tegh Bahadur Martyrdom Day. He sacrificed his life for the sake of people who did not even belong to his community.

His works are famous all over the world. He was the one to sacrifice his life for the betterment of all. Also, he sacrificed his life to protect religion, human values, ideals, and principles. Not only Sikhs but people outside India also portray him as someone special. Noel King of the University of California said, “Guru Teg Bahadur’s martyrdom was the first-ever martyrdom for human rights in the world.”

He was the youngest son of Guru Hargobind. And he fought against the Aurangzeb. But Aurangzeb killed him public. He was killed in 1675.

The reason behind his death was he refused to convert himself into Islam.

Aurangzeb was changing India into an Islamic country. Consequently compelling the Hindus to change over to Islam. And if they don’t then execution will take place. An appointment of 500 Kashmiri Pandits drove by Pandit Kripa Ram went to look for help from him at Anandpur Sahib.

Official Statement of President for Guru Tegh Bahadur

President Ram Nath Kovind paid tribute to Guru Teg Bahadur on his Martyrdom Day. In a message, the President said, “Guru Tegh Bahadur made supreme sacrifice to protect the faith, belief, and rights of the people. Therefore, the fellow citizens call him ‘Hind di Chaadar’ with love and respect.”

The President said that his penance moves us all to join for the genuine assistance of humankind.

Kovind likewise said Guru Tegh Bahadur’s lessons and his work will keep on spreading the soul of affection and energy among us all.
