Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has announced at its 43rd Annual General Meeting (Reliance AGM 2020) that Google (Google) and Jio (Jio) will together bring cheap 4G and 5G smartphones. There has been a commercial agreement between Jio Platforms and Google about this. The two companies will jointly develop an entry-level affordable smartphone with an Android operating system and play store optimizations.
Jio prepares a complete 5G solution
Mukesh Ambani told in an annual meeting of Reliance that Jio has prepared a complete 5G solution that can be rolled out to customers by next year. This rollout will be done after making available 5G spectrum from the government. He further said that after providing a spectrum from the government, the Jio platform will be able to export 5G solutions to other telecom operators in the world.

Jio and Google’s partnership
Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that in a country like India, everyone should have internet. He said that with the partnership of Jio and Google, millions of Indians who do not have smartphones can get internet.
Jio-Google will make the operating system for Android-based smartphone
Mukesh Ambani said in this meeting that Google will invest Rs 33737 crore for a 7.7 percent stake in Jio Platforms. With Google’s investment, the figure for investment in Reliance now reached 1.52 lakh crore. Thus far 14 companies have invested in Jio. Jio and Google together will form the operating system for Android-based smartphones.
‘2G free India live’s purpose’
In this meeting, Mukesh said that the purpose of Jio is to make India 2G free. For this, the company will provide 4G internet to 2G customers. Ambani said that our aim is to give smartphones in the hands of all Indians. There are around 35 crore 2G feature phone users in India. Google and Jio together will make cheaper smartphones for these people. Jio aims to upgrade 300 million people from 2G to 4G.
Jio phone world’s cheapest 4G handset
In the meeting, Mukesh Ambani said that Jio’s phone is currently the cheapest 4G connectivity phone in the world. The price of Jio phone launched in the year 2017 is currently 699 rupees. At the same time, the price of Jio Phone 2, which came in the year 2018, is Rs 2,999.
