Glenn Maxwell married his longtime girlfriend Vini Raman on March 18. The wedding was held in two traditions: Maxwell’s Christian vows and Raman’s traditional Indian ceremony.

The 33-year-old all-rounder, who will represent Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2018 IPL season, posted an Instagram storey with his Indian-origin wife, Vini Raman, in which the duo was seen holding hands with rings on their fingers.

Glenn Maxwell and Vini, a pharmacist based in Melbourne who comes from a Tamil family, have been dating for almost five years and plan to marry in February 2020.

Although the couple had planned to marry in early 2020, the COVID-19 epidemic intervened, postponing their wedding. Maxwell is set to join Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 after being retained by the club for 11 crores.

Vini is of Indian origin, thus the couple chose to have two weddings. On social media, a video of an Indian wedding has gone viral. In the same scene, Maxwell is seen exchanging garlands with Vini and participating in the ‘Varmala’ ritual, a typical Tamil wedding rite.

Notably, the wedding card for Maxwell and Vini’s Indian ceremony was also printed in Tamil.

According to Cricket Australia’s (CA) central contract regulations, Maxwell is set to join the RCB franchise after April 5. Prior to the IPL 2022 mega auction, he was retained by the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise along with Virat Kohli and Mohammed Siraj.

Maxwell was also in the position to take over as RCB captain when Virat Kohli stood down from the post-IPL 2021 event in which they finished in the playoffs. Maxwell was on fire in the Indian Premier League IPL 2021, scoring 513 runs from 15 matches at an average of 42.75 and a strike rate of 144.10, including six half-centuries.

RCB would be happy to welcome Maxwell back after losing their IPL 2022 opener against Punjab Kings, despite amassing 205 batting first with new skipper Faf du Plessis’ outstanding 88.
