Berlin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel has succeeded in reaching an agreement on the country’s immigration policy. Merkel has ended political stalemate with the Home Minister in this matter. At the same time, the shadow crisis on his government has ended. Minister Horst Seehofer withdrew the threat of resigning after a few hours of talks on the immigration dispute on Monday. The Merkel-led four-month-old coalition government was threatened with a fall to the dispute. There was a difference from Merkel about the manner in which Horst Seehofer was dealing with those who came to the southern border of Germany.

Horst Seehofer is the leader of the Christian Social Union (CSU). This is Merkel’s Christian Democrats ally. Horst Seehofer had earlier offered to resign from the post of Home Minister and the leader of the CSU leader on Sunday. Later, the CSU colleagues persuaded him to meet him to resolve the disagreement with Merkel. Merkel agreed to strengthen the control of the Austrian border after Monday’s talks, to prevent such people from entering Germany, who have applied for shelter in other EU countries. Transit centers will be built to stop them, as long as they are not sent back.

The Chancellor described this agreement as a good agreement after a tough negotiation. However, according to the reports, questions are being raised about how it will work on the border with Austria. The Austrian government said it would take measures to protect its southern borders and sought a quick clarification on Germany's decision. Before leaving CDU headquarters in Berlin, Horst Seehofer said, "After an intensive discussion between the CDU and the CSU, we have reached an agreement on how we can prevent illegal migration on the border between Germany and Austria in the future."
