Forbes has released India’s Rich List of 2020 – Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, and Shiv Nadar, tops the list

Covid-19 has occurred as a bane for the economy of India and along with this, it has disrupted many workers’ permanent source of income. People who were employed lost their jobs due to Covid-19, many businesses in India stopped due to Covid-19, a huge number of start-ups that were expected to grow also got huge losses and were forced to shut down due to Covid-19. But this pandemic has added a lot of gains to India’s top billionaires.

This can be seen with the release of the latest Forbes list of 100 richest Indians. The release of the Forbes list of 100 richest Indians ha showed and Forbes too mentioned that in the total net worth of India’s top 100 richest people there has been an increase of 14%. Now, the total net worth of these 100 Indians is $517.5 billion. Forbes in this context said, “Amid the Covid-19 pandemic which hit India hard and led to a sharp economic contraction, half of the nation’s 100 richest on the 2020 Forbes India Rich List saw gains.”

This year again Mukesh Ambani who is the Chairman of Reliance Group has topped the list and this is his 13th consecutive year of topping the list and according to Forbes, “he accounted for more than half of those gains”.

Forbes said, “The tycoon (Mukesh Ambani) added $37.3 billion, bringing his fortune to $88.7 billion, a rise of 73%. Shares of his Reliance Industries soared when, amid the nation’s lockdown, Ambani raised more than $20 billion from a string of marquee investors for Jio Platforms, Reliance’s fast-growing digital arm.”

After Mukesh Ambani, on the second number on this list comes Gautam Adani, who is the Chairman of Adani Group. This year Gautam Adani has increased his wealth by 61% and now his total net worth is $25.2 billion.

Tech big shot Shiv Nadar, who surrendered the post of the executive of HCL Technologies in July to his little girl Roshni Nadar Malhotra, additionally bounced three spots to gain the number 3 spot with $20.4 billion as portions of India’s third-biggest tech firm flooded.
