First judge in the world, Pakistan appointed, who is blind.
Lahore, A visually-challenged lawyer was sworn in as a judge in Lahore in the Punjab province of Pakistan. According to the TV news, despite the recommendation of Yousaf Saleem to be a topper and the post of Lalit Judge, the first judge was refused. Although last month, Pakistan’s Chief Justice Sadiq Nisar Khan made the judge after intervention in this matter.
Saleem was working as an Assistant Director (Law) in a department of the Punjab Government and was among the 21 participants from the 300 candidates who participated in the written examination for the post of Lalit Judge.
On May 12, Saleem received a letter from the Lahore High Court regarding his appointment as a civil judge-magistrate. Saleem’s father is a chartered accountant. Saleem is blind from birth. One of his sisters, Sima Saleem, was also the first blind person to pass the Civil Service Examination and was working as a Deputy Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office.
