Earthquake hits Andaman and Nicobar Islands


An earthquake of greatness 4.1 was accounted for close to Portblair in Andaman and Nicobar island on Monday night, as indicated by India’s National Center for Seismology.

The focal point of the earthquake was 258 km south-southeast (SSE) of Portblair, Andaman and Nicobar island, India, the organization said. The seismic tremor struck at 7:23 PM IST at a profundity of 10 km from the surface.

No death toll or property has been accounted for up until this point, according to a report.

The earthquake was accounted for a couple of hours after earthquakes were felt in Bihar after a seismic tremor of extent 3.5 struck at around 9.23 pm on Monday. The epicentre was 20 km northwest of Nalanda in Bihar and was situated at a profundity of 5 km.

An earthquake of 6.3 extents was felt across northwest India, including Delhi, on Friday with its focal point in Tajikistan. “The earthquakes were felt in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi. In any case, we haven’t got any reports of harm at this point,” JL Gautam. He is head of tasks at National Center for Seismology (NCS), said.
