Deputy Prime Minister Damian Green resigns after being caught in porn scandal.
London: Before Christmas, British Prime Minister Theresa May has been a major setback due to his resignation from his cabinet colleagues and the First Secretary of State (Deputy Prime Minister) Damian Greene. Green has resigned after being confirmed by the ministers for violating the Code of Conduct.
After proving in the Parliamentary inquiry that in connection with the claims of pornography on his computer in the House of Commons office in 2008, Green has violated the code of conduct of ministers by giving false and confusing statements while knowing the information. In his resignation, 61-year-old Green wrote, “I apologize that my statements on this point were misleading.” In their response, Theresa May has expressed ‘deep sorrow’ over Green’s resignation.
Green, who was facing investigations about wrong behavior, denied that he had misbehaved with journalist Kete Meltby in 2015 and had seen porn videos on his computer in the House of Commons in 2008.
According to the official report, the British cabinet office found in its investigation that the statement of Green, which was unaware of the information on the computer content found on the computer was “wrong and confusing” and by doing so, he violated the code of conduct for ministers.
