Darlings trailer, The dark comedy, is out now!

Darlings, Alia Bhatt’s debut film, has a trailer that expands on the frog vs scorpion scenario she told in the teaser. The film stars Alia and Shefali Shah as a brilliant mother-daughter combo, as well as Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew.

The video begins with Alia and Shefali attending a police station to make missing persons report against the former’s husband, Hamza (Vijay Varma). The two are the masterminds of Hamza’s kidnapping and even enlist the assistance of Roshan Mathew’s Zulfi. Later in the film, it is revealed why the mother-daughter team decided to abduct and torture Hamza in their own home, and why their actions may have been completely justified.

The film is directed by Jasmeet K Reen, who is making her directorial debut. Darlings are billed as a dark comedy-drama about a mother-daughter combo striving to find their place in Mumbai, seeking bravery and love in extraordinary circumstances while fighting against all difficulties.

Darlings, produced by Gauri Khan, Alia Bhatt, and Gaurav Verma, will be released on Netflix on August 5. In a statement, Alia expressed her enthusiasm for the film, saying, “Darlings holds a very special place in my heart, it’s my first film as a producer that too with Red Chillies. We are very proud and happy how the film has shaped up and we hope it will entertain and engage audiences the world over.”
