COVID-19: Air India will resume domestic flights to many cities of the country from May 19.

There will be a flight to Chennai. It will be a Kochi-Chennai flight which will run on the 19th. There will be 173 flights to Delhi, 40 to Mumbai, 25 to Hyderabad, and 12 to Kochi.

The flights from Delhi will be for Jaipur, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Amritsar, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Vijayawada, Gaya, Lucknow, and some other cities.

Air India will take special flights from Mumbai to Visakhapatnam, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Vijayawada. Apart from this, there will also be flights from Hyderabad to Mumbai and Delhi. There will also be flights from Bangalore to Mumbai, Delhi, and Hyderabad. Apart from this, a flight from Bhubaneswar will also come to Bangalore.

A senior Air India official said that the schedule was ready. “We are awaiting clearance from the Civil Aviation Ministry,” the official said. This schedule has been prepared as part of the second phase of securing Indians stranded abroad. The government has said that domestic flights will also be allowed in the second phase.

The schedule of some of these flights will be prepared in such a way that Indians coming from abroad can use these flights for their home state. An official said that it would also depend on the Quarantine Rules.

An official said that earlier these special domestic flights were scheduled to start from May 15 but were postponed until May 17. Now it has been decided to start from May 19.

After the notification is issued, people will have to book tickets from the airline’s site for these special domestic flights. A senior official of the Airports Authority of India said that preparations are underway to handle domestic flights as there are indications that private airlines may also be allowed domestic flights.
