The World Health Organization’s (WHO) Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has stated again that Coronavirus (Covid-19) would be eradicated by 2022. However, the entire globe will have to work together to achieve this. In a greeting to the world on the occasion of the New Year, WHO Director-General Dr. Margaret Chan highlighted that the epidemic is now in its third year. Even now, in such a setting, it is difficult for us. He stated that we would quickly remove Corona by 2022 but that we must first abolish inequality.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the WHO’s director-general, has spoken on the disparity in the globe when it comes to Corona. On the one hand, affluent nations are battling Corona efficiently with resources, while on the other hand, even 10% of the population in impoverished countries has never received the vaccination.
You can’t get rid of Coronavirus without getting rid of inequality
We all know that no country is immune to the disease, according to Gebreyesus. Even though we now have unique technology and resources to prevent and treat COVID-19, we have yet to eradicate it. Inequality is the main reason behind this. The more inequity there is in the world, the more vulnerable we will be to the virus’s threat. We won’t be able to get rid of it unless we get rid of inequity.
Prepare yourself for the imminent epidemic
In response to the dangers of Covid, Tedros stated that the globe would not only have to combat Corona next year but would also have to cope with a slew of other health-related issues. He claimed that because of Corona, lakhs of individuals could not receive regular vaccines. People are not going to the hospital to have their children. Aside from that, there has been a stumbling block in treating a variety of disorders. He warned that the globe must be prepared to assist in the event of a pandemic.
