On June 13, 2022, in honour of Guru Purnima, director Ayan Mukerji published a brand-new video exposing audiences to the mythology of his next film, “Brahmastra,” one of the most eagerly awaited films in recent memory. The fantasy epic is based on Indian mythology and introduces fans to a brand-new heroic universe.

According to Ayan Mukherjee, the director of Brahmastra, “We have been building the foundations of a universe over the past few years based on the concept of Astras called the Astraverse.” He provides a thorough explanation of the mythology behind his next fantasy epic, Brahmastra, which stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and other actors.

“While Brahmāstra is a work of fiction, my attempt has been to celebrate Indian spirituality, in my own way, through this movie,” Ayan stated in an Instagram post while discussing the inspiration behind this multi-starrer film. He further added, “On this very auspicious day of Guru Purnima, I wanted to share a little more in-depth about the concept of Brahmāstra – a movie through which I personally found myself transforming into a forever-student of the infinite wisdom that exists in our ancient Indian roots… Hope you guys enjoy our imagination!”

Ayan discusses in the video how the movie’s storyline is predicated on the idea of Astras and how it serves as the first entry in a shared cinematic world. These “Astras” are weapons that are based on elements found in nature, including earth, wind, fire, and water. Additionally, they have access to the power of other animals, such as bulls and monkeys. One “Astra,” the “Brahmastra,” is more effective than the others, though.

An image of a group of sages utilising the “Brahm shakti” while meditating in the mountains opens the film. These sages, who go by the name Brahmansh, have been hidden throughout history as a “secret society,” guiding humanity’s progress and development.

Later in the clip, Shiva (Ranbir Kapoor), a straightforward man who isn’t aware of his superhuman abilities as the Agni Astras, is introduced (fire weapon). Ayaan says “India, as it is today, is where the story of Brahmastra is set. I believe this puts us in a very unique position because no one has done what we are doing with ancient Indian inspiration in the modern world ever. And now on to the hero of Brahmastra, our protagonist, a young man who is yet to discover that in this world of Astras, he is a miracle because he is an Astra himself – Agni Astra. In keeping with our spirit of tribute to our roots, he is named after the God who is the dearest to me personally, the most mystical, the all-powerful and my greatest inspiration, Shiva.”

In the end, Ayan explains that the hero is called Shiva because he is one of the most powerful Astras and is also a devotee of Lord Shiva. The deity Lord Shiva, who is particularly important to Ayan, is described as being “the most mysterious, the most powerful, and his greatest inspiration.”

Ayan has great expectations for this undertaking because she has been preparing Brahmastra for many years. It has been in the news for its intriguing visual effects and Ranbir Alia’s wedding while it was still in development. Brahmastra Part 1 is scheduled to debut on September 9, 2022, two years after the epidemic caused the original release date to be postponed.
