Ayushmann Khurrana reveals he and Neha Kakkar were rejected on Indian Idol together

Ayushmann Khurrana tried his hand at various activities before finding fame as an actor. He attempted his luck as a host, and an RJ, and at one point, he even considered becoming a singer. The actor admits that he had tried out for the well-known singing reality programme but was turned down in the forthcoming episode of Indian Idol 13.

More significantly, singer and current Indian Idol judge Neha Kakkar was another originally rejected name. In the forthcoming episode of Indian Idol 13, Ayushmann Khurrana, who is now waiting for the release of his movie Action Hero, will appear to promote the picture. A preview of the episode in which Ayushmann informs the judges about his experience on the show was released by Sony TV on Saturday.

In Hindi, he addresses the judges and says, “Neha and I were eliminated from Indian Idol on the same day. From Mumbai to Delhi, we took a train together. We were all travelling and there were 50 of us who were all refused at the same time.” Added he, “Judge Neha is also the primary yahaan (Neha is a judge today and I am here too). Thus, this is really significant. Neha chuckles as Ayushmann tells the stories, and the other judges cheer.

Ayushmann launched a career in anchoring after winning Roadies’ second season in 2004. He didn’t make his Bollywood debut with Vicky Donor till 2012. In 2005, Neha Kakkar participated in the second season of Indian Idol as one of the 12 finalists. A few years after starting her singing career, she had her big break with Second Hand Jawani in Cocktail (2012). In all likelihood, the two appeared together in the 2004 Indian Idol season 1 auditions.

The 13th season of Indian Idol is presently airing, and in addition to Neha, Himesh Reshammiya and Vishal Dadlani serve as judges. Every Saturday, Sony telecasts the show.
