Avonfield Corruption Case: Nawaz is looking apply for five star jail.
Lahore, If former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif pleads, then being a former MP, he can be sent to a ‘superior category’ jail. However, his daughter Mary Nawaz will get this facility only when he will prove that he has paid at least six lakh rupees annually as income tax.
A Pakistani court convicted Sharif and Mary in the Avonfield apartment case and was sentenced to 10 and seven years imprisonment respectively. The father-daughter will be arrested on returning from Lahore to Lahore airport on Friday. Both are taking care of Sharif’s wife Kulsoom Nawaz in London from June 14.
According to Dawn’s report, they will have to apply for a request for a better category of prison because it will not be applied automatically to them. Apart from this, there will not be an air conditioner or refrigerator in the jail. The newspaper quoted an official of the Home Department as saying, “Under the law, the family can get it.” An official source said, “Sharif’s son-in-law Captain (retired) Muhammad Safdar may also demand a better category of prison by submitting the application. They have not applied for this in writing till Tuesday evening and therefore they are not being given jail in that category.
