Afghanistan: Taliban killed 20 security personnel after announcement of ceasefire.
Kabul, Only a few hours after the announcement of the ceasefire in Afghanistan, Taliban militants killed 20 security-backed militants who supported the government. According to the news agency Xinhua, “Taliban insurgents attacked security checkpoints in Kala-e-Jal district in morning, resulting in the death of 20 pro-government security forces and injuring 6 others.”
Earlier on Saturday, the Taliban had announced a ceasefire during the 3 days of Eid al-Fitr in Afghanistan. In the statement issued by the Taliban, it said, “All Mujahideen is instructed to stop all their offensive campaign against the domestic opposition forces in the entire country during the second and third days of Eid.” Eid ul-Fitr will begin on June 14.
