Since its debut, the Adipurush teaser has received a lot of negative feedback on social media. While some criticise the film’s “poor VFX,” others charge that it “misrepresents” Lord Ram and Ravana. The chief priest of the Ram temple in Ayodhya has now joined the call for an immediate ban on the movie.
According to Hindustan Times, the top priest claims that the movie insults the dignity of Lord Ram, Hanuman, and Ravana by inaccurately portraying them. The chief priest, Satyendra Das, said: “Making a movie is not wrong, but it shouldn’t be done to intentionally stir up controversy to grab the limelight.”
Narottam Mishra, the home minister for Madhya Pradesh, had already charged the producers with inaccurately portraying Hindu deities in the teaser. “I have seen the Adipurush trailer. It contains objectionable scenes, he claimed.
Malavika Avinash, a spokesperson for the BJP and an actress, had already charged the filmmakers with “misrepresenting” the Ramayana. She said the film’s creators ought to have done an adequate study before beginning production.
She told, “I am saddened by the fact that the director let alone researching the Valmiki’s Ramayana, Kamba Ramayana or Tulsidasa’s Ramayana, or the umpteen numbers of interpretations of Ramayana that are available across board as far as Thailand where they do beautiful performances of the Ramayana. The least he could have done is gone back and researched our own films.”
Adipurush is a film adaption of the Indian epic Ramayana, which was directed by Om Raut. In the movie, Kriti Sanon will play Janaki, and Prabhas will play Lord Ram. Sunny Singh plays Laxman, and Saif Ali Khan plays King Ravana, the movie’s adversary. Adipurush is regarded as Prabhas’ most significant film. It is a mythical play that cost Rs 300 crore to produce. The movie is co-financed by Retrophiles and Bhushan Kumar’s T-series. The movie will debut on January 12, 2023.
