Tokyo: Japan’s officials on Friday announced the death of nearly 91,000 chickens after being found infected with ‘bird flu’ virus of several animals in a farm in southwestern Japan. The new case came up in a farm in the Kagawa province of Shikoku Island, “This week when more than 50 dead chickens detected the highly harmful infection H5 virus. The process of killing the chickens has started before midnight on Thursday and will end in approximately 24 hours. The movement of eggs and animals in 10 km radius has been stopped, while the area has been cleaned with pesticide.
In a press conference after meeting with the Agriculture and Health Ministers, government spokesman Yoshibide Suga expressed the possibility of other cases of ‘bird flu’ outside the area.
