5 Bollywood films that were shot, but never released.

Entertainment Movie Trailers Strategy and Stories Tops

Film-making requires a lot of effort. Actors, Directors, helpers, work day and night for months just for a single film. Signing for multiple films in Bollywood is usually a great sign for an actor, but there is no sense of surety that all films will be released on the scheduled date. Some films get delayed by a year or two and some take even longer. Unfortunately among the others, there are some films that never ended up seeing the light of the day.

Yes, you read that right, they were shot completely but never released. So, here is the list of films that were shot, but were abandoned or weren’t released for some reason or the other.

• Shoe bite
Around ten years ago, Amitabh Bachchan was contacted by Percept Picture Company to act in a film directed by renowned director, Shoojit Sircar. However, due to the chaos created by a huge legal battle between Percept Picture Company and UTV Movies, Shoebite was never released. Last we heard, Amitabh Bachchan tweeted a post requesting the release of the film but to no avail.

• Time Machine
The cast of this film was Aamir Khan, Raveena Tandon, and Naseeruddin Shah. The plot of the movie was based upon the idea of time travel. The director of the movie, Shekhar Kapur, who filmed most of the film, abandoned the film for the bigger projects that came his way.

• Zameen
The film Zameen was helmed by Ramesh Sippy. The film starred Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit, however, the film was abandoned midway because of major budget issues. With a star cast that also included Sanjay Dutt and Vinod Khanna, we can only wonder how good the film would have turned out.

• Dus
Mukul S. Anand’s most awaited movie, titled Dus, was never released. The leads of the movie were Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt. The story revolved around two Indian agents who were trying to prevent an Indo-Pak war. However, due to the untimely demise of the director Mukul S. Anand on the sets left the film as it is.

• Munna Bhai Amreeka
Post two successful Munna Bhai films in a row, the makers of the film, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani were looking forward to a third party, making the series a trilogy. In fact, they also released a trailer back in 2007. However, soon after that Dutt had to serve a jail sentence. The filmmakers weren’t quite happy about it and abandoned it. It was later picked up but with an entirely different premise. We wonder what that version is like.
