Nobody can make you happy until you’re happy with yourself first. So smile and spread the smile everywhere. Life is too short to wake up with regrets. Do whatever makes you happy. Gautam Buddha once said, “There is no path to happiness: happiness is the path”. So, here I’ll be stating 4 easy and little things you can do, to make yourself happy as well as the people around you.

• Enjoy little things

Enjoying every moment is important. As the saying goes ‘Life is like an ice cream, enjoy it before it melts’. So as soon as you wake up in the morning, play your favourite music, something that gives you peace from within. Spend some extra time in the shower, pamper yourself with long hot water baths. Look in the mirror and smile at yourself, ‘you look amazing’. Take many selfies. Pray to the Almighty. Now be grateful that you’re alive. Enjoy your hot cup of tea or coffee or hot chocolate with marshmallows, eating your favourite cookies. Video call all your friends randomly. If you have someone special, don’t forget to remind them how deeply you love them and how much they mean to you.

• Show Gratitude

There are many people because of who you are happy today. So firstly after waking up, thank the Almighty for giving you this beautiful life. Then start by saying a big ‘thank you!’ to your mother for everything she has done for you. All the sacrifices she has made just to see you happy. Thank your father for working day and night just to provide for you. Take up the lunch or dinner duty today and cook food for everyone at home. Call your loved ones, your best buds and sing randomly for them or just write something for them. How about going on a liking and commenting spree on your friend’s social media profile?

• Take care of yourself

Look after yourself first. You deserve to be loved and pampered. How about finally putting that extra care on your skin with the DIY skin treatments? Ask someone in your family to give you that nice soothing head massage, do the same for them in return though. Now keep that junk food aside and try eating healthy, with veggies in it. Be away from negativity. Stop talking to people who are toxic and mess up your mental health. Maybe exercise a little towards the end of the day.

• Try something new and different

Start experimenting. Do stuff you’ve always wanted to. Learn to cook something more high profile than instant noodles. Learn to dance a little maybe, so when you and your friends go to a party, you don’t have to stand in the corner like a tree while everyone is enjoying. Start reading a book for a change. It is so much better than gossip. Sleep a little longer. Finally, don’t be afraid to express your feelings and emotions, your views and thoughts. Also, watch stand up comedy once in a while. It’s amazing!
