New Delhi,
The dream of paperless boarding is going to be realized soon on domestic air routes. The service will start with the notification issued by the Central Government for its ambitious ‘Digi Travel’ project rules.

To avail this service, passengers need to generate a DY ID number from the Ministry of Civil Aviation website. Physical verification will be done during this first use of the DY ID on the airport. After this, in the future travelers will be given this number while booking the aircraft ticket, after which they will be able to make paperless boarding from Smart Airport which facilitates biometric based verification.

While international travel can not be completely paperless, because in many places it is necessary to show a passport, whether it is check-in point or immigrant point.

Financial services will be started on airports like Hyderabad and Bengaluru, based on voluntary biometrics (Facial Recognition). Within the next one to three months, the facility of voluntary biometrics will be started in Varanasi, Kolkata, Pune and Vijayawada.

This facility can also be provided on other airports. For this, the rules have been fixed that the passengers who selected the DY have similar experience on different smart airports. For those who do not select Voluntary DY, boarding system by showing paper tickets and ID cards on the airport will also be maintained.
