If you are thinking of buying dual SIM iPhones then know these things.

Apple has launched three new iPhones- iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, which has dual SIM card support in 2018. The e-SIM card will be spotted in the latest iPhone. New iPhone XR, XS and XS Max have been given a regular Nano-SIM card slot. To enable dual SIM connectivity in the new iPhone, you have to choose e-SIM from your telecom operator. If you are thinking of buying a new iPhone with Dual SIM touch, then know these things.

1. Dual SIM support not available in new iphone

Apple has said that new iPhones will be given support for e-SIM through software updates. Therefore, the new iPhone XR, XS and XS Max will not get dual SIM support.

2. Only Airtel postpaid and Reliance Jio offer e-SIM in India.

In India, only Reliance Jio (Postpaid and Prepaid) and Airtel (Postpaid) offer e-SIM. So if you use two SIM cards in the new iphone, then you have a second SIM or an Airtel postpaid or Reliance Jiao.

3. You can change your SIM to e-SIM

If you already have an Airtel postpaid or Reliance Jio connection, then you do not need to get a new number for e-SIM registration. You can switch the regular SIM number to e-SIM. For example, if you have Airtel postpaid and Vodafone SIM, then you can change your Airtel number to e-SIM. By doing this you can use Vodafone’s physical SIM in your device as a secondary number in your new phone when inserting it.

4. Free in e-SIM India

E-SIM is free now but in the future you may have to spend money to buy it. The good thing is that in India you will be given e-SIM connectivity in Reliance Jio and Airtel postpaid. In the US, users only have to spend 10 dollars or about 720 rupees per month to buy this e-SIM. While in India it is getting free for free. Further, telecom operators can take charge for this e-sim just for each month. E-SIM can also be charged during international roaming.

5. Not many countries have e-SIM card support

International roaming can be expensive on e-SIM. You may have to use a physical SIM for roaming. If you travel frequently outside the country then you will have to opt for an international roaming plan in your e-SIM card. E-SIM card does not support in many countries. Many telecom companies do not give you the option of e-SIM.

6. Check e-SIM Compatibility

If you are buying a new iPhone in India, then check the e-SIM compatibility, many times saving a lot of money in buying a new iPhone from outside. However, before buying any new iPhone, check your model number and confirm from the Apple Store whether e-SIM connectivity will be sorted in India or not.

7. Apple Watch Series 3 and Watch Series 4 connectivity to cellular

If you use Apple Watch Series 3 cellular or are thinking of buying Apple Watch Series 4 then be aware that your Apple Watch and iPhone should be the same mobile number and operator. Once you choose Reliance Jio or Airtel postpaid, then you can not change it. You have to reset the watch to a new mobile number.
